Open Rituals & Moots

With the kind permission of Historic Scotland we celebrate the eight major Pagan festivals at the Ring of Brodgar. We usually design a ritual around those provided by the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. Wherever possible, we celebrate on the day of the festival or as near as possible giving preference to Saturdays and Tuesdays. We are careful not to choose times when the moon would be void of course.

We also hold Moots on the first Tuesday of every month - unless the Moot is within a week of a ritual, in which case we tend to combine the Moot and the ritual on the Tuesday. Helgis is on the harbour in Kirkwall, The Standing Stones Hotel is in Stenness and near to the Ring of Brodgar.

Anyone with a warm heart and open mind is very welcome to join us, or even just interested observers, to any of these events.

Tuesday 5 June - Moot at Standing Stones Hotel 7pm onwardsThursday 21 June about 6:30pm - Summer Solstice ritual at Brodgar then after to Standing Stones Hotel for social *** we know the solstice is on the 20 June but we have a wedding booked for 20 June and we can't do both!!! (and the Solstice is actually very late on the 20th so we will probably be forgiven)Tuesday 3 July - Moot at Standing Stones Hotel 7pm onwardsTuesday 31 July about 6pm - Lughnasadh ritual at Brodgar then after to Standing Stones Hotel for MootTuesday 4 September - Moot at Standing Stones Hotel 7pm onwardsSaturday 22 September about 3pm - Autumn Equinox ritual at Brodgar then after to Standing Stones Hotel for socialTuesday 2 October - Moot upstairs at Helgis 7pm onwardsWednesday 31 October about 7pm - Samhain - an evening of clairvoyance and meditation and general wierdness at the Standing Stones Hotel (Residents' Lounge) - there will be a small charge to cover the hire of the room but this includes tea and coffeeTuesday 4 December - Moot upstairs at Helgis 7pm onwardsFriday 21 December about 1pm - Midwinter Solstice ritual at Brodgar then after to Standing Stones Hotel for social
